Description

Baked French Dip Biscuits are a delicious and easy-to-make twist on the classic French dip sandwich, featuring flaky biscuits filled with savory beef and melted cheese, served with a rich au jus for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 pound roast beef, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the cold butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the milk until just combined.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently.
  6. Roll out the dough and cut into circles.
  7. Place a slice of roast beef and a sprinkle of cheese on half of the circles.
  8. Top with the remaining circles and seal the edges.
  9. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. In a saucepan, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder; heat until warm.
  11. Serve the biscuits warm with the au jus for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add sautéed onions or peppers to the filling.
  • These biscuits can be made ahead of time and frozen before baking.
