Description

Delightful red velvet cinnamon rolls infused with cinnamon and topped with cream cheese frosting, perfect for Valentine’s Day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Red food coloring
  • Cream cheese frosting

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes, until foamy.
  2. In a separate mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Pour in the yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and add red food coloring. Mix until a dough starts to form.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a rectangle, about ¼ inch thick.
  7. Spread softened butter evenly, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, then roll tightly.
  8. Slice into 1-inch pieces and arrange in a greased baking dish.
  9. Let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Cool slightly before drizzling with cream cheese frosting.

Notes

Make ahead by preparing the dough up to the second rise, refrigerate overnight. Allow the dough to come to room temperature before rolling out.
