- 1 pound mozzarella cheese sticks
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Cut the mozzarella cheese sticks in half if desired.
- Set up a breading station with three bowls: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Dredge each cheese stick in flour, then dip in the egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
- Place the breaded cheese sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the cheese sticks in batches until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add cayenne pepper to the breadcrumb mixture.
- Make sure the cheese sticks are frozen before frying to prevent them from melting too quickly.
- These can be baked in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for a healthier option, but they won’t be as crispy.
