Description

Asparagus Cordon Bleu combines tender asparagus wrapped in savory ham and gooey Gouda, all encased in a crispy breadcrumb coating for a delightful feast.

  • 6 Scheiben Kochschinken (slices of cooked ham)
  • 6 Scheiben Gouda (slices of Gouda cheese)
  • 2 Eier (eggs)
  • 3 EL Mehl (tablespoons of flour)
  • 100 g Paniermehl (Panko or breadcrumbs)
  • 2 EL Butterschmalz (tablespoons of clarified butter)
  • Salt and Pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Asparagus: If using fresh asparagus, trim off the woody ends and rinse lightly before patting them dry with a kitchen towel.
  2. Make the Filling: Place a slice of ham on a prepared surface and layer it with a slice of Gouda cheese. Take two pieces of asparagus and lay them down on top of the cheese. Roll everything tightly and secure it with a toothpick.
  3. Set Up Your Breading Station: In one bowl, season the flour with salt and pepper. In another bowl, beat the eggs until they’re well combined and frothy. Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
