Description

A comforting side dish of sweet potatoes candied with brown sugar and cinnamon, perfect for holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 4 Sweet Potatoes, peeled and sliced into 1/2 inch rounds
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Mini Marshmallows (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into rounds about half an inch thick.
  3. Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat, then stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Add the sweet potato slices and mix until well coated with the syrup.
  5. Transfer the sweet potatoes to a baking dish and pour any remaining syrup over them.
  6. Bake for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fork-tender.
  7. Optionally, add mini marshmallows for the last 10 minutes of baking.
  8. Serve warm as a delightful side dish.

Notes

Make ahead by slicing sweet potatoes 24 hours in advance and storing them submerged in cold water. Enjoy with complementary dishes like roast turkey or ham.
