Description
Delightful Cinnamon French Toast Roll-Ups that are easy to make and perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 slices of bread
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- Butter for cooking
- Maple syrup for serving
- Optional: Nutella or cream cheese for filling
Instructions
- Flatten the Bread: Gently roll out each slice of bread with a rolling pin until it’s about a quarter-inch thick.
- Spread the Filling: If you opt for Nutella or cream cheese, spread a thin layer onto one side of each slice.
- Roll Them Up: Starting from one end, roll the bread tightly into a log, sealing in all the goodness.
- Whisk the Mixture: In a bowl, crack the eggs and whisk them together with the milk, cinnamon, and sugar until well combined and frothy.
- Dip the Rolls: Carefully dip each rolled-up piece into the egg mixture, ensuring it gets well-coated but not overly soggy.
- Heat the Skillet: Place a pat of butter in your preheated skillet over medium heat until melted and bubbling.
- Cook the Roll-Ups: Gently place the roll-ups seam-side down in the skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and slightly crisp.
- Serve Warm: Remove from the skillet, plate them up, and drizzle with warm maple syrup for that finishing touch.
Notes
Make-Ahead Tip: Prepare the roll-ups the night before, store them in the fridge, then simply cook them in the morning for a quick and satisfying breakfast.
