Description
Creamy, fluffy mashed potatoes cooked in a crockpot and finished with nutty browned butter for a comforting side dish perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds of potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/2 cup of unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (like parsley or chives) for garnish
Instructions
- Place the cubed potatoes in the crockpot and add enough water to cover them by about an inch. Cook on high for 4-5 hours or on low for 6-8 hours until the potatoes are easily pierced with a fork.
- Melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until it turns a beautiful golden brown, then remove from heat and set aside.
- Drain the water from the cooked potatoes and return them to the crockpot to allow excess moisture to escape.
- Add the browned butter, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the crockpot.
- Mash the potatoes using your choice of potato masher or hand mixer until they reach your desired creaminess.
- Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
Make-ahead tips: Prepare the mashed potatoes in advance and store them in the crockpot. Just heat them on low for about an hour before serving.
