- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- Cream cheese frosting
- Sprinkles for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line with parchment for easier removal.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a larger bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Mix until fully combined.
- Gradually incorporate dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Spread dough evenly in the prepared baking pan with a spatula.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
- Allow to cool completely in the pan.
- Frost with cream cheese frosting and top with sprinkles before serving.
Notes
For best results, allow the bars to cool completely before frosting to maintain the frosting’s texture. You can also customize the frosting with different extracts.
