Description

Deliciously tender and crispy honey mustard chicken sliders served in soft buns, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into slider-sized portions
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 slider buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese, quartered
  • Lettuce leaves, sliced tomatoes, and pickle chips (optional toppings)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken pieces by cutting them into slider-sized portions; aim for 2-3 inches square and 1/2 inch thick.
  2. Set up the breading station in three shallow dishes: combine flour and spices in one dish, beaten eggs in another, and panko breadcrumbs in the last.
  3. Bread the chicken by dredging each piece in the flour mixture, then dip in the beaten eggs, and coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Rest the breaded chicken on a plate for 10-15 minutes to set the coating.
  5. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Fry the chicken in hot oil for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Remove the chicken using a slotted spoon and allow to drain on a wire rack.
  8. Combine the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, honey, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl to make the honey mustard sauce.
  9. Prepare the slider buns by optionally toasting them lightly.
  10. Spread the honey mustard sauce on both halves of each bun.
  11. Add the fried chicken, cheese, and optional toppings to each bun.
  12. Top with the bun tops and serve immediately.

Notes

For gluten-free sliders, use gluten-free flour and panko breadcrumbs.
