Description

A vibrant and enchanting cake that combines sweetness and creaminess, topped with delicious cream cheese frosting.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Purple food coloring
  • Cream cheese frosting (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Combine the softened butter and granulated sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  4. Mix the dry ingredients: in a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just combined to maintain a delicate crumb.
  6. Add purple food coloring until you achieve the desired hue.
  7. Evenly distribute the batter between the prepared cake pans.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool the cakes in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  10. Frost with cream cheese frosting and decorate as desired.

Notes

You can bake the cakes a day in advance and store them in the fridge wrapped in plastic wrap. Substitute regular flour for gluten-free flour to accommodate dietary preferences.
