Description

A comforting casserole layered with scalloped potatoes, savory ham, and melting cheese, perfect for family gatherings or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups cooked ham, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Grease a casserole dish. Begin layering half of the sliced potatoes in the dish, spreading them evenly.
  4. Layer half of the ham over the potatoes, followed by half of the cream. Add half of the cheese on top, and season it subtly with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, ham, cream, and cheese.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  8. Allow the dish to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

You can prepare the layers a day in advance and refrigerate until you’re ready to bake. For a crispy top, uncover for the last 10 minutes of reheating.
