A tantalizing blend of succulent chicken wings coated in a sticky red wine glaze that elevates any occasion, perfect for game day or gatherings.

- 2 – 3 lb chicken wings (drumettes and wingettes)
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 3 tablespoons hot sauce of choice
- 4 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 6 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1¼ cups Cabernet Sauvignon (or your favorite red wine)
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 tomato (finely chopped)
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 1 teaspoon corn starch
- Fresh thyme
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine canola oil, sesame oil, lemon juice, soy sauce, honey, hot sauce, hoisin sauce, minced garlic, 1 cup of Cabernet Sauvignon, and a sprinkle of fresh thyme.
- Gently place the chicken wings into the marinade, ensuring they’re well-coated, then seal the bag or cover the bowl. Chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour, or up to overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 350F (175C) and prepare your baking sheet with two tablespoons of canola oil.
- Remove the wings from the marinade, and lay them on the baking sheet without overlapping. Bake for 15 minutes.
- Pour half of the reserved marinade over the wings, bake for an additional 15 minutes. Then flip the wings and pour the remaining marinade on top. Bake for another 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of red wine, sugar, molasses, and finely chopped tomato. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.
- Lower the heat and continue to simmer until thickened for about 15-20 minutes.
- Mix cornstarch with ¼ cup of remaining wine to create a slurry, then add it to the bubbling mixture and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Remove wings from the oven and drizzle the red wine sticky glaze over them. Garnish with fresh thyme before serving.
Notes
Prepare the marinade the night before for enhanced flavor. Ensure not to overcrowd the baking sheet for the best results.
