Description

Traditional Thumb Bars are a delicious and unique treat that combines a buttery crust with a fruity filling, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup fruit preserves (your choice)
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
  4. Press two-thirds of the dough into the bottom of a greased 8-inch square baking pan.
  5. Spread the fruit preserves evenly over the crust.
  6. Crumb the remaining dough over the top of the preserves.
  7. If using, sprinkle chopped nuts on top.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool before cutting into squares.
